🧔🏽♂️ Dad Thoughts: I Got You
Have you read Good Inside by Dr. Becky Kennedy? After watching the below reel by @getbetterwithbooks, I added it to my "to read" list. The message is simple and beautiful, and if you do one thing today, watch it.
The idea is that our kids are inherently good. The tantrums and meltdowns aren't them being bad, they're tiny windows into big emotions they don't know how to manage yet. And that's scary for them. They don't need someone telling them they're overreacting. They need someone sturdy, naming the feeling they can't name themselves.
As adults, we learn to be sturdy right around the time we realize the people we leaned on won't always be there. The emotional needs we're learning to spot in our kids? Those never actually go away in us.
We become the people saying "I got you," right as we start missing the ones who used to say it to us.
🤝 Know a local business that wants in?
The Nassau Dad Drop reaches local parents who actually go places and buy things. If you run a business, or know one, that wants to reach Nassau County families, hit reply or email [email protected]. Let's talk.
